Comets, Eclipses and Meteor Showers may the most familiar astronomical events to the average person. In mid-1985, people realized that Halley's Comet would soon be back in the skies - an event that happens only once every 86 years. The 1990's brought us two bright new comets that once again fired the public's imagination. These comets, along with several easily seen total solar eclipses, has brought the popularity of amateur astronomy to new highs.
